Heavy Civil/Electrical Estimator

Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Review tender drawings and documents.
- Assemble estimates and proposals for small- and large-scale civil construction projects.
- Attend pre-bid site visits to assess site conditions, collect photographs, and take notes.
- Review and understand project-specific specifications and drawings and complete project quantity take-offs.
- Review and understand project-specific contractual terms and conditions.
- Request/organize quotes from subcontractors and suppliers and incorporate into estimate.
- Monitor productions and performance on active projects and utilize knowledge gained to forecast productions and manpower/equipment requirements for future projects.
- Formulate all costs for estimate, including but not limited to labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Assist in coordinating subcontractors and material delivery for active projects.
- Attend progress meetings.
- Assist project managers/superintendents with project management when needed and provide technical support to field staff.
- Request and manage utilities locates.
- Apply critical thinking, experience, and knowledge to foresee design or logistical issues in project documents.
- Review estimates with operations staff and integrate feedback into estimate.
 
Working Conditions
- Typical hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm. You may be required to occasionally work outside of these times as required to meet deadlines.
- Work will generally take place in an office setting, with the occasional field site visits. Successful applicant must provide their own steel-toed boots.
 
Skills and Knowledge Required
- Ability to multi-task and sustain productivity in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work accurately under pressure, and to manage time and prioritize tasks to best meet deadlines.
- Must be a self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills and willingness to take on new challenges.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team setting
 
Experience/Training Required
- Experience with Microsoft Project is an asset.
- Experience with Bid2Win or similar estimating software is an asset
- Experience with CAD Software (AutoCAD Civil3D) is an asset.
- Previous work experience in construction and/or estimating, or a strong familiarity with the construction industry, is required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a Certificate in Construction Estimating or Civil Technology are strong assets.

Salary: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
