Accessible Customer Service Policy

Our Commitment
Moncrief Construction Limited (MCL) is committed to provide our goods and services in a way that respects the dignity and independence of those with disabilities.  That all individuals shall have the same opportunity to access our goods and services and benefit with the same quality and timeliness as other do.
 
Assistive Devices
MCL will ensure that staff are trained and familiar with various assistive devices that may be used by those with disabilities.
 
Communication
MCL will communicate with people with disabilities in ways that take in account their disability.
 
Service Animals
MCL will welcome people with disabilities and their service animals on parts of our premises that are open to the public.  
 
Support Persons
MCL is committed to welcoming people who are accompanied by a support person.  MCL may require a person with a disability to be accompanied by a support person when on premises, but only if a support person is necessary to protect the health or safety of the person with a disability of the health or safety of others on the premises.  MCL will consult with the person with a disability to understand their needs.
 
Notice of Temporary Disruption
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption of our services or facilities, customers with disabilities will be notified promptly.  A clearly posted notice will include information about the reasons for the disruption, its anticipated length of time and a description of alternative facilities or service if available.
 
Training
MCL will ensure that all employees, volunteers, agents, others who provide service on behalf of MCL and those who are involved in the development and approval of customer service polices, practices and procedures will receive training about the provision of goods and services to individuals with disabilities.
 
Training will include:
• An overview of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005
• How to interact with people with various types of disabilities
• How to interact with people with disabilities who use an assistive device
• How to interact with people who use the assistance of a service animal
• How to interact with people who use a support person
• How to use any equipment or devices made available by MCL to help people with disabilities to access goods and services
• What to do if a person with a disability is having difficultly accessing MCL’s goods and services
 
Website and Web Content
MCL will maintain compliance with the World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, level AA. 
 
MCL will continue to review website accessibility to maintain the required levels of accessibility for users with disabilities.

Employment
Moncrief Construction Limited is committed to fair and accessible employment practices, and will ensure it meets employment standards.
 
Recruitment and Selection
MCL will:
• Notify employees and the public of availability of accommodation(s) for applicants in the recruitment process.
• Notify applicants who have been invited to participate in an interview or any other stage in the selection process that accommodation(s) are available.
• Notify all new hires of policies for accommodating employees with disabilities.
• Inform existing employees of all policies used to support employees with disabilities on an annual basis and when a change in policy occurs.
• Train hiring managers to ensure that accommodations are offered and made available throughout the interview process.
 
Workplace Emergency Response Information
MCL will provide individualized workplace emergency response information to employees with disabilities where the disability is such that an individualized information is necessary.
An employee who requires an individualize workplace emergency response and who will require assistance, MCL will designate a person to provide assistance and with the employee’s consent, MCL will provide the workplace emergency response information to such person.
 
Availably of Documents
A copy of this policy is available in an accessible format or with communication support upon request in a timely manner, at no extra cost, and that the person(s) making the request is consulted in order to determine the appropriate format or support.
 
Modification to this or Other Policies
Any policy of Moncrief Construction Limited that does not respect and promote the dignity and independence of people with disability will be modified or removed.
 
Multi-Year Accessibility Plan
