Carpenter

MCL is currently seeking a Carpenter to join our team


Position Description:

  • Assist with daily tasks and duties contributing to on-site day-to-day operations

  • Assist in the assembly and erection of forms for concrete, wood and metal frame construction and use plans and instruments to prepare for excavating and shoring

  • Participate in Tool Box Talks daily and communicate any safety concerns

  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment, and comply with all Health & Safety regulations

  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment

  • Keep a daily log of tasks

  • Respect and respond to direction given

  • Handle and transport job materials to the work area as needed

  • Advise Journeypersons/Forepersons of any variances to schedule and/or material issues

  • Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required and the work does not exceed own limitations

  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures


Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in heavy construction

  • Must have concrete pouring experience

  • Flat concrete finishing experience is an asset

  • Experience working with circular formwork tanks is an asset

  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures

  • Ability to operate carpentry tools and required equipment in a safe and responsible manner

  • Ability to read building specifications, prints and as-builds

  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current

  • Respect diversity - treat others with respect


Valid WHMIS, Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest certificates are required


Job Types: Full-time, Contract


Pay: $32.00-$45.00 per hour

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)


Experience:

  • Carpentry: 5 years (preferred)

  • Heavy Construction: 3 years (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • Drivers Licence (preferred)
